Call phone numbers with Skype for Business Mobile

Using the app

To make calls to a phone number from the Skype for Business App, all you have to do is click on the dialpad icon in the upper right corner.

Then you can dial the number.

ATTENTION: There must be a 0 in front of the desired number, otherwise the call will not be forwarded.

This guide works for both IPhone and Android devices.

You can find more information on the ZDV website (German).

Support end for Windows 7

Microsoft has announced that the support for Windows 7 will cease on January 14, 2020, which means that there will be no normal or security-related updates after that date.

We therefore recommend an upgrade to Windows 10, which we provide free of charge. If you wish, we can help you with the installation and, if necessary, take over for you.

If you still have concerns about the upgrade, you can visit us or contact us. We will be happy to advise you further.

Replacement WLAN- and VPN-certificates

On Tuesday, 09.07.2019 at 6pm, the certificates of the WLAN connections "Uni-Mainz" and "eduroam", as well as of the unversity VPN server of the unversity will be renewed. Depending on the operating system, the certificate will be automatically accepted or must be manually accepted due to a request. Either the name oder the fingerprint will be shown.

The correct certificate contains (again depending on the operating system and may be shown partially) the follow information:

CN = radius.zdv.uni-mainz.de
O = Johannes Gutenberg-Universitaet Mainz
L = Mainz
S = Rheinland-Pfalz
C = DE

Fingerprint: e7 78 56 db b8 2c 23 cf f1 26 94 48 42 f4 cd 54 b3 5b 6b 7d

HDMI Extender for the lecture hall

As the VGA operation of the beamer in the lecture hall of the KPH proved to be unreliable, an HDMI/VGA Extender was installed - initially provisionally. We are currently preparing a permanent installation, also for the second beamer in the lecture hall.

If you need or want to help yourself, here are some points you should consider:

  • When using the HDMI Extender, the beamer input MUST be switched to "Eingang 1 - DVI-D (HDCP)" via remote control.
  • You will probably want to connect your notebook via HDMI or VGA. You don't need to bring the cables yourself. We have them here in stock.
  • Please do not confuse HDMI and Display Port!
  • There is also a display port and a DVI port. We also have these cables in stock if you need them.
  • Here is also a photo with the connections.

If you still need help, instructions or cables and adapters for your notebook, please call the following numbers:

  • 25855: Herr Almeida Sousa und Herr Androsov.
  • 25868: Herr Kreim

If you find your printer with your OS, you can go ahead and install it that way.

If this is not possible please use the Howto for Windows 10, macOS 10.13.x or Linux below.
